Here is a recap of a recent dream my 6yr old had, in his words-
I was on another planet. I was three years old. This planet had a rule against science and punished scientists. At 3 years I wanted to become a scientist and chose becoming one. So they arrested me and put me in jail for 11 years. I continued to be a scientist. So after the release they put me back in jail for being a scientist. I was released after that and given a house to live in..
He has been reading Galileo and Newton recently….
I have blogged before about Half Price Books in and around Austin. This is another plug for their stores.
Lately, we have been shopping in their clearance aisles - some are marked down to a $1. In other stores they are < $3 sales. The cool thing about that is that I found these books on the $1 sale. I purchased $420 worth of books today, valued at Amazon and Half.com, while only paying $62.00.
Here are some sampling from my today purchase-

For a shopper its a delight, as I find different treasures in their various locations around Austin. Mostly we visit the one on Lamar, but venture to the San Marcos one, Houston one and the south Austin location as well.
Short of blogging about my son, I figured I would use this blog as a journal to archive the key happenings around my family..
Jay has been blowing through books -
::June 20th - he completed Along came Galileo
::June 30th - he started on Blaise Pascal
:: continuing to read the World History Atlas book.
He also completed Singapore Math 2A on June 30th and started in Math 2B.
He is making $$ reading books from Half Price Books.
We finally broke down and managed to get two puppies (lab+Pyrenees mix). They are about 8+ weeks old and both boys. Roh named the alpha male STRYKER and named the other one ACE. I think the name and personalities suit them both.
Stef has been training them starting yesterday. Will have pics shortly..
I am not dead..just been super busy with school, family, work, travel and writing. I have gotten few requests via emails and few via blog comments to start posting. Its good to know I am missed in this cyber world ![]()
Just a recap on our month-
- We just got back from Roh’s birthday at NASA Space camp in Houston. Where he got be in the Jedi training and kick some stormtoppers butt. The other two were in more of a grounded camp for the day, while we spoiled Roh.
- My Spring semester ended with one final and paper. Overall I did OK and am now on a summer course, which is taking more time than I would like to give it - but has been worth every bit.
- Travel has been sucky due to cancelled flights, light schedules, weather and overall AA bs. I started using Southwest as they seem more reliable out of Austin.
- Writing is going very slow. I am on the OOPSLA committe and would like to do a workshop on REST, but havent found time to pen the paper.
- I have gotten offers to go to Korea, India, Turkey and Europe on projects for IBM, but due to class and family obligations have said no, so far.
Summer is going fast and I would like to chill more with the fam..will tell you how that goes.

This super bowl was a ad-fun filled, action packed, whopass session delivered by G-Men to Pats. It was great to see Eli make it to the big game and take it all - title and mvp..But what stands out the most is the lack of good sportsmanship by Bill Belichick. Dude just walked off when there were still 2secs left on the clock. No shaking hands and no respect for the game. He also was so trite when it came to answering questions at the press conf. following the game. I am not expecting him to be emotional or vari-toned. But just be real, man.
What happened to the adage, its not over until its over, and the one about, you play the entire 60mts. I was ashamed of being a Pats fan at one point and for admiring the MAN. He proved he still had the BOY in him.
Congrats to the Giants for a well deserved victory and for one of the best superbowl games, I have ever watched in a decade.
ro: Mom, I want us to grow pumpkins in the back yard
m: OK.
ro: Can we please grow them tomorrow..please
m: Pumpkins tomorrow. No, sweet heart it cant be done that fast. Anyway, why do you want to grow pumpkins.
ro: I want to grow them and have lots of them before Halloween
m: Halloween?
ro: Yes mom, so I can sell the pumpkins and make money to buy toys for Christmas
